On Monday, Aug. 5, members of the Class of ‘68 of Randolph-Henry High School (RH) honored their former teachers with a presentation thanking them for their service to the class members.

In honor and memory of past teachers, Class of ‘68 members presented 45 $75 gift cards for the purchase of needed classroom supplies — one to each teacher, counselor and librarian at the school. This gift was part of the Alumni Teachers’ Fund.

The Class of ‘68 initiated the Alumni Teachers’ Fund as part of their fiftieth reunion activities, and this is the second occasion where members have presented gift cards to the RH teachers.
“Teachers often spend hundreds of dollars on school supplies, and the high school has no PTO support. High school teachers instruct as many as 150 students a year, and supplies needed or desired are often expensive,” explained Margaret Ann Elder, Class of ’68 member.

Elder went on to say that it is the hope of the Class of ‘68 that other alumni, classes and businesses will contribute to the Teachers’ Fund. “Contributions in honor or memory of someone are encouraged, and honorees or their families will be notified,” said Elder.

Donations are tax-deductible and should be made to Randolph Henry Scholarship Foundation and noted for Teachers’ Fund. Checks should be mailed to Robert Laine, Treasurer, Randolph-Henry Scholarship Foundation, P. O. Box 769, Keysville, VA 23947.
