Mattie Clark Allen peacefully returned to her maker on June 17, 2019 in Brookneal, Virginia. She was born on April 25, 1923 to the late Buck and Janie McCargo Clark. Mattie loved her family and many friends deeply and had a great sense of humor.

Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Hillary Allen; son, Earnest Allen; daughter Barbara A. Johnson; granddaughter, Stephanie Allen; and sister, Lillie Pulliam.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her youngest son, George R. Allen (Mattie); one brother, John Elliott, Jr. (Penny); one son-in-law, William Johnson; grandchildren, Vivian Sydnor, Gloria Allen, Delores Petty (Richard), Brandy Allen and Melvin Gilmore; great-grandchildren, Valyncia, Kimberly, Ieisha, Shannon, Keyshawn, Crystal, Chandler and Chase and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; life-long friends, Lou Ellen Allen, Beatrice Smith,
Brandon Bolden, Robert Smith and a host of others.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Randolph, Virginia and with interment in the church cemetery.
