Save the dates

With the end of the school year and summer approaching, there’s likely no end of important days and information to remember in the months ahead.

However, these dates may be important to mark on one’s calendars, particularly as they relate to the future of state and local government.

Charlotte County Registrar Nan Lambert included some important dates for Charlotte residents to remember for the primary election next month and the general election in November.

The Republican Party District 15 Senate seat is up for election Tuesday, June 11.

For those registering to vote, or who may need to make changes if they’ve moved, the last day to register to vote for the primary, or receive an application to register by mail is Monday, May 20.

Tuesday, June 4, is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot by mail. Saturday, May 8, is the last day to open for in-person absentee voting.

Incumbent state senator Frank Ruff Jr. and candidate Dale Sturdifen are running for election for the Republican Party District 15 Senate seat. Voters can go to the same precinct locations they went to during the November 2018 election. To find the voting locations of each precinct, see the article on The Gazette website, TheCharlotteGazette. com.

It’s also important to look out for the November election, taking place Nov. 5.

Lambert said seats in the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors are up for election. These include the County Seat, Drakes Branch, Cullen/Red House and Bacon/Saxe districts. Those same district seats are open at the Charlotte County School Board. There are also elections set for the sheriff, commonwealth’s attorney, treasurer, commissioner of the revenue and directors for the soil and water conservation district.

As there are multiple local government seats and state seats up for election, it may be important to keep these dates close at hand. Your voice, and your vote, are important.
