Randolph-Henry High School’s young 2018 varsity football team struggled to a 1-9 overall record but drew respect from area coaches in the form of four All-James River District second-team selections.
Statesmen senior Ryan Skipper made second team as both an offensive lineman and as a defensive lineman.
Senior Treymon Roberts was recognized on the second team as a running back, and sophomore Trenton Dodd garnered a selection as an offensive lineman.
Skipper finished the season with 38 total tackles, including 19 solo and six tackles for a loss. He also caused two fumbles and had one fumble recovery.
As offensive linemen, both Skipper and Dodd facilitated the Statesmen run game that gained 1,973 yards and 17 touchdowns. The offense also generated 226 yards and a touchdown in the passing game.
Much of the team’s offensive production came from Roberts, who recorded 170 carries for 863 yards and six touchdowns in nine games. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry.
He also completed seven passes for 83 yards, one touchdown and one interception, and he had two catches for 34 yards.
One of Randolph-Henry’s rushing touchdowns came courtesy of Skipper, who had five carries for 41 yards and a score during the Senior Night game for his team, its lone win.
