Dayton Lee Dunnavant, Sr.

Dayton Lee Dunnavant Sr. (88) of Cullen, Virginia passed away on June 27, 2018.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Hamlett Dunnavant; and four children, Jackie D. Hobgood (Howard) of Keysville, Cindy D. Watkins (Steve) of Raleigh, N.C., D.L. Dunnavant Jr. (Pam) of Cullen, Laurie D. Bowman (Kenneth) of Keysville; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lee Dunnavant and Mary Walker Dunnavant, and three siblings, Mary Clay Roberts, Thomas Edwin Dunnavant, and Anna D. Dennany.

Dayton retired after 33 years with the US Postal Service where he was devoted to the patrons on his daily mail route. He was also a lifetime farmer who enjoyed being on a tractor and growing gardens large enough to feed the family, neighbors, and surrounding community. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Visitation was held at 10 a.m. with funeral service and interment following at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, at Concord Baptist Church, 3225 Germantown Road, in Charlotte Court House, Virginia.
