Randolph Lee Duffer

Randolph Lee Duffer, age 86, of Keysville, VA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at his home on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Born in Clover, VA on June 25, 1931, he was the son of the Late Mack McKinley and Maggie Tharpe Duffer. He was preceded in death by his son, Randolph L. Duffer II; brother, Gerald W. Duffer; and sister, Lucille Duffer Palmer.

Randolph served in the U S Army during the Korean War and was a founding member of the Charlotte County Volunteer Rescue Squad. He served as a member of the Charlotte County School Board. For over sixty years, he served the people of Charlotte County and surrounding area as the owner of Browning-Duffer Funeral Home. He loved cattle farming and enjoyed raising vegetables and sharing them. He will be remembered for his love of family and of Charlotte County and its people as well as his quiet generosity to many causes and individuals.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Barbara Beard Duffer; his daughter, Robbin Duffer Stiles and husband, Eddie; his sons, Randolph Lee Duffer III and wife, Beverly; James Rodney Duffer and wife, Lynn. His six grandchildren include Gray Stiles; Anne Randolph Stiles; Clay Stiles and his wife, Claire; Mari Carl Duffer Fisher and her husband, Daniel; Reed Duffer; and Raleigh Duffer. In addition, he has three sisters and one brother-in-law: Polly Duffer Lenhart, Virginia Duffer Hall, and Barbara Ann Duffer Averette and husband, Billy, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2018, at Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery in Keysville. The family received friends at the home, 310 King Street, Keysville, on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 2 to 6 p.m. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o David Palmer 3385 Roanoke Station Road, Randolph VA 23962, or Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery Fund, P O Box 682, Keysville VA 23947.
