Two cellular towers will be the subject of joint public hearings between the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors and the Charlotte County Planning Commission June 11.

The conditional use permits for both towers will be discussed by the two organizations, 7 p.m. at the Charlotte County Administration Office boardroom at 250 LeGrande Ave.

The first cellular tower, cited as being constructed for U.S. Cellular, is set to be located at Barrett Road,

Route 785, in Phenix, on property owned by C.E. Overstreet Jr., Brenda Overstreet and Ross Overstreet.

“Persons affected may appear and present their views at the public hearing,” a public notice from county administration cited.

The second cellular tower, also cited as being constructed for U.S. Cellular, would be located near the intersection of Craftons Gate Highway and Sunny Side Road in Drakes Branch. The property is owned by Timothy R. Adams.

Members of the board of supervisors recently discussed concerns about cellular coverage in the area during its May meeting, considering engaging companies such as Verizon, which has a tower in Drakes Branch, at the county level.
