Statesmen looking to win out

After a narrow and rare home loss May 1, Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity baseball team returned quickly to its winning ways Thursday with a 13-1 rout of host Central Lunenburg High School. Senior Elijah Moore, pictured above, contributes to the victory over the Chargers. The Statesmen had their seven-game winning streak snapped May 1 when they fell 1-0 to visiting Amelia County High School. Entering Tuesday’s road game against Nottoway High School, Randolph-Henry held an overall record of 13-3 and was in first place in the James River District with an 11-1 record. Goochland High School was right behind at 10-1. The Statesmen host Goochland High School on Thursday at 6 p.m. When the team’s met April 10 at Goochland, Randolph-Henry prevailed 3-2 in eight innings.
