The Charlotte County Partnership of the Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity is currently at work once again renovating in Charlotte County.

The home, located at 8748 Church Street in Keysville, is approximately 1000 square feet and includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a back deck.

An announcement from the partnership said, “the house is being totally renovated to include: brand-new HVAC system, insulated and sealed crawl space, new hot water heater and plumbing, new flooring, kitchen appliances, upgraded electrical panel, new bathroom fixtures and landscaping.

Once the house is completed, it will sell for $62,000 and applications were due April 30.

According to Justin Hicks, “To date with the house on church street in Keysville, we have done two total home renovations and three exterior home projects with our A Brush with Kindness project.”

In April 2016, Hicks said the first meeting of the then newly formed organization was held in September and an official agreement with the Farmville Area Habitat was signed in February 2016.

At that time, he said the goal of the organization was to eliminate low-quality housing conditions for residents in the county and around the world.

“Farmville Area Habitat has the responsibility to work in close-by areas where there is need and no housing organization available,” he said previously.

In July 2017, the Partnership held their first home dedication in the county with a celebration involving the recipient family and about 50 members of the community.

The announcement said selection criteria is based on “your need, ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and willingness to partner with Habitat through volunteering and homeowner education … ”

In order to qualify for the program, interested applicants must be a current resident for at least 12 months in Charlotte County, according to the notice.
