The 15^th Annual Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival is shaping up to be one of the best yet with tractor pulls, quarter scale pulls, mud bogs, toe-tapping gospel and bluegrass music, classic cars, vintage stock cars, Model A’s, mouth-watering festival foods, and a great line up of new and returning vendors and exhibitors.

Among the returning exhibitors is professional wheelwright, Thomas Tucker of Locust, North Carolina who will demonstrate the craft of woodworking from the 1800s by making intricate pieces of woodwork using a simple woodturning lathe he handcrafted himself. Tucker will be located along the midway near the Exhibit Hall underneath a big white tent displaying his handmade walking sticks, wooden buckets and funeral caskets. Look for him to be wearing his signature black hat with a turkey feather.

Another returning favorite is Ed Hobbs of Raleigh. A member of the Mid-West Tool Collectors Association, Hobbs will demonstrate an antique foot powered treadle jig saw from his vast collection of antique tools. Wearing period attire, Hobbs will be set up inside the Exhibit Hall near Henry and Herbert Caudle’s impressive antique tool collection.

Back by popular demand is Carl Pletcher of Altoona, Alabama with his “cut away” tractor. Pletcher was unable to attend last year’s show but plans to return this year to show off his 1945 Ford 2N tractor that he cut in half and meticulously restored showcasing each internal part. Pletcher’s “cut away” tractor will be on display in the Exhibit Hall.

These and many other features and attractions are all a part of the 15th Annual Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival May 4 -5 at the Halifax County Fairgrounds.

The Festival is a two-day event this year beginning Friday, May 4, at 9 a.m. concluding Saturday, May 5, at 9 p.m. Festival times are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. each day.
