Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity boys basketball team has continued to drive through the James River District field after defeating first-place Goochland High School last week.
The Statesmen won 64-44 on Friday against visiting Central Lunenburg High School, and they routed host Amelia County High School 71-28 on Jan. 23.
Randolph-Henry Head Coach James Graves noted that against the Chargers, his team led 35-24 at halftime.
“We stretched that lead to 21 going into the fourth,” he said in an email Sunday. “Defense was the key as it has been all year for us. Most of our points came from transition. Still a lot of basketball to be played with three games this week and three in a row the following week.”
Senior guard Jordan Jones led the Statesmen in scoring against Central with 15 points, while senior guard Nasheim Pettus added 12, as did junior forward Treymon Roberts.
The Statesmen led 54-12 at halftime against Amelia.
For the game, they were led in scoring by senior guard/forward Tremaine Pugh, Jones and Pettus, each of which scored 15 points.
The Statesmen (10-4) hosted Nottoway High School on Tuesday. On Thursday, they visit Buckingham County High School, and on Friday, they host Goochland High School. All games are scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m.
