A 27-year-old Keysville man was found not guilty of charges of strangling, abduction by force and intimidation, and forcible sodomy in Charlotte County Circuit Court Oct. 31.
According to online court documents, Demarco Steven Andrews was also found nolle prosequi, which means the court abandoned the charges, on two charges of destruction of property $1,000 or less and two charges of assault and battery of a family member.
According to online court documents, Andrews has been scheduled to appear before a jury twice — once on Sept. 13 and once June 26. In both instances, his trial was continued and it was noted that there was no jury.
Police said Andrews was arrested Feb. 14 after the sheriff’s office received indictments from a grand jury for the crimes.
“The victim took out the charges herself with the magistrate,” Charlotte County Sheriff Thomas Jones said in a previous interview.
