The Charlotte County Education Foundation was re-established during 2017. The volunteer board of directors meet monthly for the purpose of raising funds to support the students of Charlotte County Public Schools. Foundation chair Marjorie Pugh shared, “Having taught for over 30 years, I personally know how students’ financial struggles can prevent them from participating in extracurricular activities. Teachers are always frustrated by these situations and try to find ways to provide those funds. The Foundation will strive to provide funding for these special learning experiences that are so beneficial to the overall development of a child.”
The Foundation is holding a raffle as their first major fundraiser. Three great prizes were donated to the Foundation for the raffle—first prize is a weekend Condominium stay at Emerald Isle beach in North Carolina; Second prize is a $100 gift card; and third prize is a gift certificate at The Fishin’ Pig restaurant. Foundation members are selling tickets. The drawing will be held at the Dec. 5 foundation meeting.
The Foundation can accept donations, including memorials. Funds raised will provide financial aid to students for activities; such as field trips and extra educational opportunities.
The Foundation is a Section 501(c)(3) organization; therefore, donors may deduct contributions for tax purposes.
