August 10

BLOOD DRIVE, 1-6 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Red Oak, 6700 Barnesville Highway. The drive is sponsored by Public Fork Christian Church.

August 12

FIRE DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER, 8 p.m. at Red House Volunteer Fire Department. Enjoy dancing, fun and music by DJ Stan. Cost is $10 a person. All proceeds benefit the Red House Fire Department. For more information, call (434) 610-0783.

GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MEETING, 11 a.m. at 200 David Bruce Ave. in Charlotte Court House. The guest speaker for the month will be Connie Routon Purvis. Programs are free and open to the public. Visit www.scvgs.com for more information.

August 13

ANNUAL HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at St. Michael Baptist Church. Pastor James Goode will deliver the homecoming message. Dinner will be served after the service. Everyone is invited.

August 15

SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS MEETING, 6:30 p.m. at Sheldon’s Restaurant in Keysville. The speaker will be Compatriot Les Updike. The meeting is open to anyone who has an interest in the south and would like to hear the program. For more information, call (434) 735-8415 or (434) 696-2202.

HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney will preach the morning service. There will be no afternoon service. 

BIBLICAL STORYTELLING, 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Bible Church in Keysville. The event will feature Nick and Lucy Della Valle, of Kansas. The church is located at 401 Southern Dr.

August 27

PUBLIC MOVIE SHOWING, 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Bible Church in Keysville. The church will show a screening of The Exit: The Appeal of Suicide. Emmanuel Bible is located at 401 Southern Dr.

September 9

WOMEN’S ANNUAL TEA, 2-4 p.m. at Morrison Grove Baptist Church. All women are invited. Bring your favorite tea cup. This event is sponsored by the women’s empowerment bible study.

September 15

POW-MIA DAY, 11 a.m. at the Charlotte County Administration Building lawn. This event is hosted by the Charlotte County VFW Post 8902. Guest speaker will be Greg Eanes.

September 16

GOSPEL CONCERT, 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Bible Church in Keysville. Michael Wayne Smith will perform. The church is located at 401 Southern Dr.

September 30

BENEFIT RIDE, 9:30 a.m. at the Drakes Branch Pavilion. The Southside Buffalo Soldiers will sponsor this ride for fallen Buffalo Soldier George Roberts. Cost is $15 per rider and $5 per passenger. Proceeds will assist with son Jacoby Roberts. For more information, call (804) 665-8860.
