The Future Stars Statesmen Youth Football Camp will be held July 19-20 on the practice fields at Randolph-Henry High School.

The camp is open to anyone aged 5 and older, and it will run 6-8 p.m. each day.

Randolph-Henry Head Varsity Football Coach Zach Orlando said, “I just want to create a link between us and the little league program in the community, but really more so than anything, I want the younger generations in Charlotte County to get excited about one day being a Randolph-Henry football player when they get up to the high school (level).”

The coach expects young campers will have an opportunity to participate side-by-side with Statesmen players.

“We’re going to strongly encourage them to attend the camp, and so it’s going to be a lot of role modeling and good stuff like that going on,” he said.

Orlando noted he and his staff of varsity and junior varsity coaches will teach campers the basics of football, offensively and defensively. They will go over stances and basic footwork drills.

“And then we’re going to get into some competition stuff and some teamwork elements…” he said.

Rather than dividing campers by age, Orlando said, “It’s going to be basically broken down by position more than anything else.”

At the camp, registration will open at 5 p.m. in the Randolph-Henry weight room.

The cost to participate will be $10 per camper.
