Dear Editor,

The skies opened up, the weather cooperated with God’s blessing and the grand setting at the Central High Museum went on in full swing June 24.

Our mission theme of preserving the past and prepare for the future was felt in the words spoken to the crowd.

Dr. Hezetine Foster reminded us that preserving our past is vital to moving forward as a community. Knowing where we come from enhances our vision of the future before us. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney’s empowering words encouraged the audience to keep one’s dreams alive. He cited the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Joseph from the Bible as examples. The Blackstone Community Chorus once again poured out their hearts of praise through joyous songs.

As we remember, Dr. King had a dream of equality for all. The Rev. Dr. Finney asked the question, “What do you do with a black man who has a dream?” Many would try to squash that dream. You can’t let that happen. You must keep moving forward. Joseph had a dream and his jealous brothers sold him into slavery. He was not stopped by this act. God brought him through and blessed him to fulfill his goal.

Persevere until the dream is realized. Stay steadfast and keep pressing toward your dreams and they will come to pass. We at the Central High Museum believe in the promise that if you put God first and persevere, he will see your dreams come to fruition.

The Central High Museum board members thank all of you for your support of our second annual grand setting.
