Alethea Yvonne Dupee Wells, of Drakes Branch, died on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Hickory Hill Retirement Community at the age of 92.

Mrs. Wells was born January 16, 1925 in Drakes Branch, to the late Mr. John Edward Dupee and Mrs. Naomi Gillette Lackland Dupee. She was married to the late Mr. Eugene Douglas Wells Sr., and joined St. Michael Baptist Church at an early age and later joined Gethsemane Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Wells was a Charlotte County Public Schools educator retiring in 1983 after thirty-two years of service.

Mrs. Wells is survived by two sons: Eugene Douglas Wells Jr., and wife, Jerris and Peery Alexander Wells and wife, Janice; one daughter: Cecelia Margueritta Wells Goldman and husband, Vinston; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, and parents she was preceded in death by one brother: Garette Dupee.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wells was held June 20, 2017 at the chapel of Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston. Entombment followed at Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg, VA.

In lieu of floral tributes the family request memorial contributions to Gethsemane United Presbyterian Church, 185 Gethsemane Church Avenue, Drakes Branch, VA 23937.
