Two charged in drug bust

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force arrested two people on alleged possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, according to a press release from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

James Hodges, of Nottoway County, and Tiffany Newton, of Keysville, were arrested June 6, according to the release.

The Task Force, which includes narcotics investigators from Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police, conducted a traffic stop and search warrant where they seized heroin, cocaine and heroin paraphernalia, according to the release.

Hodges and Newton were later arrested, according to the release, and charges range from possession of heroin with the intent to distribute to possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

Newton and Hodges are currently held without bond at the Charlotte County Jail, police say.
