Cathy Carty Newcomb, of Drakes Branch, passed away June 1, 2017.  She was born in Abington, on April 1, 1951 and was 66 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Carty and the late Virginia Johnson Carty.

She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church and a retired LPN of Sentara Woodview. 

She is survived by husband, Kevin “K.T.” Newcomb; daughters, Stephanie Arnold (David Peaco) of Mechanicsville, Jennifer Burchette (Brad) of Madison Heights, step-daughter, Paige Hamlett (Travis) of Red Oak; four grandchildren, Ben and Abby Arnold of Mechanicsville, Elora and Andrew Burchette of Madison Heights, one step-grandchild, John Blaine Hamlett of Red Oak.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
