Panthers earn weekend sweep, improve to .500

The Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) men’s basketball team topped Stillwater Christian Prep 112-95 on Sunday afternoon to record its ninth win in the past 11 games.

The victory also improved the two-time defending USA National Postgrad champions to 9-9 on the season.

Anthony Harris led SVCC with 31 points and seven assists while Iseal Stith scored 16 points and added 15 rebounds and 12 assists.

Chris Jackson tallied 16 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists while J.C. Stewart scored 15 points to go with 10 boards.

On Saturday, the Panthers rallied from a 17-point deficit early in the second half to top Central International College 98-95 for the biggest comeback win of the season.

Harris led SVCC with 25 points and seven rebounds, while Davis and Stith finished with 16 points apiece. Stewart scored 15 points and added 15 boards.

The Panthers host Washington Academy on Saturday and Bryant & Stratton MIT on Sunday. Both games are set for 2 p.m.
