On Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in New Bern, NC, the Lord took another one of his saints, Mary Marie Wimbush. She was the oldest of four children born in Halifax County on April 13, 1939 to the late Louis and Annie Davis Wimbush. She was preceded in death by her sister, the Rev. Emma Wimbush Byrd.

Marie leaves to cherish her memory a son, James Wimbush, known as Alvin, of Richmond; two brothers, Frank Wimbush of Halifax, and the Rev. Joe L. Winbush (Cynthia) of Havelock, NC; brother-in-law, Dea. William Byrd (Joyce) of Danville; host of loving nieces and nephews, Joe L. West, Jannice Dixon, Maybell Faulkner (Sylvester), Paige Glass, Rebecca and Phalisa Wimbush, Elder Bryan Winbush (Monique), and Stephanie Currie (Israel); many other great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, January 23 at Traynham Grove Baptist Church in Nathalie, with interment in the church cemetery.
