Charlotte Scott ‘Nanny Chick’ Barker

Charlotte Scott “Nanny Chick” Barker, 67, of Saxe, entered into eternal bliss on December 14, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Charlotte was born to Henry and Eva Scott in Saxe on September 3, 1949.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Dewey M. Barker; four children, Dewey L. Barker (Becky) of Keysville, Donald R. Barker (Tammy) of Keysville, Diann M. Tharpe (Perry) of Drakes Branch, and Dennis W. Barker (Lola) of Drakes Branch; and an honorary daughter, Lisa L. Barker of Keysville. Charlotte had seven grandchildren, Leslie, Kaylin, Joshua, Kelsey, Alex, Maci, and Jacob; two step-grandchildren, Jarrett and Jason; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Faith, and September; and two step-great-grandchildren, Dustin and Chase. In addition, she is survived by three loving sisters, Ann Tharpe (James), Linda Mason (Tom), and Frances Green.
Charlotte won the battle. Cancer never broke her spirit or shook her faith. She was reunited with her parents and her siblings, Kathy Scott, Pete Scott, Otis Scott, Clarence Scott, Sydnor Scott, and Margaret Townsend.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 16 at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, with interment in the Scott Family Cemetery, Saxe. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
The family requests donations be made to the Barksdale Foundation.
