On Saturday, 500 families residing in the South Hill communities received 30-pound boxes of food for healthy meals.

Made possible by a generous donation from the Hermie and Elliott Sadler Foundation, FeedMore worked with local partners to identify families to take part in this special holiday distribution. Mecklenburg Senior Citizens and South Hill Bread Box identified recipients and assisted in the distribution.

The holiday meal boxes contained fresh produce, meat, boxed and canned goods, a chicken roaster, dinner rolls, green beans, stuffing, black eyed peas, cranberry jelly, potatoes, onions, gravy and sweet potatoes.

“We are so very thankful for our growing partnership with the Sadler family and are grateful for their dedication to our mission of providing our region’s vulnerable populations with one of the most basic necessities, especially during this special time of year,” FeedMore CEO Doug Pick said.

Hermie Sadler was in attendance Saturday to assist with the distribution of holiday boxes to the families in need.

“Elliott and I are proud to partner with FeedMore and these local businesses to provide much needed food and support for people in need in our area,” Sadler said. “We appreciate everyone’s support for this special event.”
