Barkley L. Fisher

Barkley L. Fisher, of Nathalie, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was born on June 13, 1927 in Halifax County and was 89 years old. He was the son of the late Presley Thornton Fisher and the late Minnie Crews Fisher and was married to the late Alease Clarke Fisher. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Millstone and a retired tobacco and cattle farmer. 

Mr. Barkley L. Fisher is survived by four daughters, Nancy F. Shook and husband C.E. of Keysville, Charlotte F. Davis and husband, Don of South Boston, Bonnie F. Carson of Lynchburg, and Patsy F. Ray and husband, David of Chesterfield; one son, Barry C. Fisher and wife, June of Nathalie; devoted special friend, Gayle Duncan of Nathalie; two sisters, Mildred F. Roller of Mt. Laurel and Edna F. Guthrie of Halifax; two brothers, Carl Fisher of Maine and Watkins Thornton “Toots” Fisher of Lynchburg; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 2 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Millstone with the Rev. Kris Cook and the Rev. Shelton Miles officiating.  Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, December 1 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1062 Thornton-Jim Trail, Nathalie, VA.
