One injured in Thanksgiving Day crash

A Freightliner tractor-trailer and a Chevy Aveo collided on Thanksgiving Day directly in front of the Sav-U-Time convenience store, in Keysville. According to Virginia State Police (VSP), the accident occurred at approximately 10:55 a.m. on Kings Highway.

John Alvis, 87, of South Boston, was driving a 2004 Chevy Aveo when he attempted to exit the parking lot of the convenience store. Upon exiting, Alvis pulled into the path of the 2015 Freightliner, driven by Carl JeanLouis, 51, of New Iberia, La., according to the VSP.

Alvis was airlifted to Lynchburg General Hospital for injuries sustained in the accident. JeanLouis was not injured.

Charges are currently pending. Virginia State Trooper J.D. Gregory was the investigating officer.
