NOVEMBER 26

YOUTH BASKETBALL SIGNUPS, noon-2 p.m. at the Drakes Branch Municipal Building. Youth ages 7-15 are eligible. Cost is $40 per participant. If there is more than one participant from the same household, the cost will be $30 for each additional participant. Payment is due at the time of signups. First time participants will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. No signups will be accepted after the final date. The municipal building is located at 4800 Drakes Main St. in Drakes Branch.

NOVEMBER 27

PASTOR AND FIRST LADY’S 33RD ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Roanoke Baptist Church, celebrating the Rev. Wendell E. Brown and First Lady Ella H. Brown. The Rev. Roger Allen, pastor of Salem Baptist Church, of Red Oak, will be the guest preacher. The Salem Baptist choir will perform. For more information, call the church at (434) 568-3341.

CHRISTMAS PARADE, 2 p.m. in the town of Phenix. To be a participant, mail information to Town of Phenix, P.O. CHRISTMAS PARADE, 7 p.m. in the town of Keysville. Line up will begin at 6 p.m. Registration forms are available online at www.townofkeysville.com, or at the town office at 120 J St. in Keysville. DECEMBER 7

SHRINERS SEAFOOD FESTIVAL, 5:30-8 p.m. at Golden Leaf Warehouse in South Hill. The cost is only $25 and all net proceeds go to the Shriners Children’s Hospitals. For tickets or information call Chuck Ryan at (434) 210-6035.

JANUARY 15

COAT DRIVE, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Mt. Ellis Baptist Church in Keysville. The drive is sponsored by The Kappa Rho Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. The community is requested to donate new and used coats, hats, gloves, scarves and other winter items for children and adults. The drive will run from now until January 15.

FEBRUARY 7

BEEKEEPING COURSE, 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Prince Edward Extension Office; specifically designed for those who intend to start honeybee colonies.
