Ida Pearl Moore

Ida Pearl Moore, 94, returned to her heavenly home on November 10, 2016, following a long illness.  Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her and gave her peace throughout her life.

Pearl was born to the late Frank and Carrie DuVal on October 16, 1922.  She was raised in a Christian home with a large, loving family consisting of two sisters, Louise and Evelyn, and four brothers, Earl, Lewis, William and Raymond.  She graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in the first, full four-year class of Registered Nurses.  She was a compassionate healer for almost 40 years, and she touched many people in need of care and a kind hand.

Pearl was blessed with a loving family.  She married her best friend, John Scott Moore, on July 5, 1945, and together they raised four children, Evelyn Jo, Thomas DuVal, Randolph Scott and Carrie Lynn, with love and humility.  She had a special place in her heart for her daughter-in-law, Susan O’Brien, and her chosen daughter, Bonnie.  Pearl adored her grandchildren, Pamela Ann, Christopher DuVal, Rebecca Elizabeth, Thomas DuVal, II, Matthew Scott, Ian DuVal, Gareth Montgomery, Pearl Louise, Dillon Thomas and Cody Edward.  Through their marriages she welcomed into her heart Roger, Donna, Debbie, Jill and Douglas; and she looked forward to upcoming weddings that would bring Jenny and Logan into her family.  Pearl’s great-grandchildren, Tyler, Troy, Erin, Chris, Elliott, Dylan, Oliver, Mia, Thomas, Titus Robinson, Pierce DuVal, Isabella, and Olivia and her great-great-grandchildren, Irena, Orion, Aiden, and Ella, added to her life in a special way.

Pearl’s family will honor her with a private service, and she will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery beside her husband and several family members in her beloved Charlotte County.  The family is grateful for the loving care provided to her in her later years by angels Hester Randolph and Barbara Fletcher.

The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home, Keysville, is in charge of arrangements.
