HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Drakes Branch’s Main Street. The festival will include music, crafts and food vendors, face painting, inflatables, a halloween costume contest, trick or treat candy and the farmer’s market. This event is sponsored by the Charlotte County Historical and Genealogical Society and the Drakes Branch Museum.

HALLOWEEN AND HARVEST DANCE, 6 p.m. at the Pamplin Depot Freight Room. Come enjoy a family friendly event including costumes, prizes and a fall themed dinner at $5 per plate. Music will be provided by the Farm Use Old Time String Band. All proceeds will be donated to the Depot Restoration Fund.

MEN’S DAY, noon-4 p.m. at Staunton View Park in Clarksville. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. James H. Taylor lll, pastor of Race Street Baptist Church, Farmville. The theme will be Searching For Kingdom Men. There will be a horseshoe tournament along with other activities.

BAKE SALE, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Keysville Hardware. This event is sponsored by Randolph-Henry’s Literary/Arts Club. A variety of treats will be available, including chocolate cream pie. All proceeds will benefit the publication of Randolph-Henry’s annual literary magazine, The Writer’s Block.

  OCTOBER 30

MEN AND WOMEN’S DAY, 3 p.m. at Aspen Hill Baptist Church in Brookneal. The preacher for the occasion will be the Rev. Jerry Streat, pastor of Poplar Lawn Baptist Church in Blackstone. Music will be rendered by the Rev. Bill Davis and the Set Free gospel singers. A repast will be after the service.

MEN AND WOMEN’S DAY, 3 p.m. at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church. The message will be delivered by Minister Loretta Bailey and Pastor Tyrone Craighead. The music will rendered by The Blessed Few and Elijah Allen. All are invited.

PRODIGAL SON CONCERT, 7 p.m. at Cullen Baptist Church. Everyone is invited to attend.

SINGING STARS ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Central Middle School in Charlotte Court House. Various groups and choirs will participate, including the Spiritual Disciples of Brodnax, the Gospel Lifters of Amelia, the Springfield Travelers of Meherrin, the Callans/Stone Family Golden Stars of Nathalie, the Freeman Family of Nathalie and others.

MEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Red Oak. Guests will be the Rev. Cetric Gayles, Associate Minister of Race Street Baptist Church and the New Bethel Community Choir.

OCTOBER 31

HALLOWEEN, 5-7 p.m. in the town of Keysville. Only children 12 and under should dress for the occasion.

FALL COSTUME CARNIVAL, 6 p.m. at the Phenix Fire Hall. The event will include a Trunk or Treat, costume carnival and games. Contact Midway Baptist Church at (434) 376-3574 with any questions. Everyone is invited.

TRUNK OR TREAT, 5-6:30 p.m. at Oak View Presbyterian. Oak View is located about two miles north of Cullen, at 7007 Thomas Jefferson Highway. 

TRUNK OR TREAT, 5-7 p.m. at Ash Camp Baptist Church in Keysville. The event will be held in the church parking lot. Adults, youth and children will be giving out treats to the neighborhood goblins. Look for the best decorated vehicle (optional) and costumes (optional) while you enjoy our treats, bonfire and s’mores.

NOVEMBER 1

BEEKEEPER’S MEETING, 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office. If you have one, bring your favorite gadget, tool or doo-hickey for beekeeping.  Anyone who has bees or is interested in bees is welcome. For more information, call Mary Jane Morgan at (434) 315-1433.
