R-H varsity girls volleyball update

The Randolph-Henry High School varsity girls volleyball team took on a trio of area opponents last week and came away with a 1-2 record.

On Thursday, the team fell to host Buckingham County High School, 18-25, 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 6-15. Kierra Jones led the Randolph-Henry attack with 10 kills while Annie Sandridge added eight of her own. Kimmi Horsfall and Anna-Grace Cary anchored the Statesmen defense, combining for 56 digs on the night.

Randolph-Henry defeated visiting Prince Edward County High School, 25-14, 25-23, 25-19, on Sept. 20. The Lady Statesmen were paced by six kills from Jones, five kills and three aces from Sandridge and four aces from Cary.

The Lady Statesmen lost 25-21, 20-25, 10-25, 15-25 to visiting Appomattox County High School on Sept. 19. Randolph-Henry was led by five kills from Jones and three from Hannah Pascuita.

“We’re proud of where the team is and where we’re going,” said Randolph-Henry Head Coach Shep Critzer.

R-H hosted Nottoway High School on Tuesday and will host Central Lunenburg High School at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
