Mrs. Vernell Sarah Spencer Morton peacefully returned to her maker on September 8, 2016 at her home in Charlotte Court House, Virginia. She was the middle child of seven children born to the late Elder John B and Delia Lewis Spencer on February 1, 1921.

Vernell enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. We are grateful for her ninety-five beautiful years filled with laughter, hope, and love.Vernell was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry P. Morton, her siblings, Mary Ross, Mabel Barnes, Bertha Johnson, John R. Spencer, Frank J. Spencer, and Willie H. Spencer.

Vernell leaves to rejoice her time on this earth with precious memories; her godchildren, Myra B. Ashley, Jervy F. Barnes Jr. (Dorothy) all of Charlotte Court House and Dorothy B. Williams (James) of Disputanta, VA; special niece, Gloria Wallace; close family friend, James Morton and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Louis Baptist Church in Charlotte Court House with interment in the church cemetery. Service of Comfort was provided by Dupee’s Funeral Home of Drakes Branch. On line condolences may be expressed at www.dupeefuneralhome.com
