The Randolph-Henry High School varsity girls volleyball team fell 3-1 to host Cumberland High School on Sept. 13.

Behind three kills from Kierra Jones and some consistent serving, the Lady Statesmen started the match strong before falling in the first game, 25-19. They bounced back in the second game, though. Hannah Pascuita served three of the team’s six aces to help even the match with a 25-22 win.

The momentum would not last for Randolph-Henry, though, as Cumberland jumped out to early leads in each of the next two games to cruise to the 25-10, 25-11 wins and capture the James River District contest.

The Lady Statesmen hosted Prince Edward on Tuesday and visit Buckingham on Thursday.
