The Randolph-Henry High School varsity golf team topped four more opponents last week, growing its James River District win streak to 161.
The wins improved the 2016 Statesmen to 6-0 in the district and 9-0 overall.
“The 2016 Randolph-Henry golf team continues to play well and are competing every day in each match,” R-H Head Coach Kelly Powell said.
On Thursday, the Statesmen produced a team score of 156 at Lunenburg Country Club, defeating Central Lunenburg High School, which shot a 197, and Cumberland High School, which shot a 219.
Leading the way individually for the Statesmen was Matthew Myers, who shot a two-over-par 37. Close behind him was Mitch Dunn, who shot a 38, while Gunnar Lacks had a 40 and Evan Mason had a 41.
On Aug. 16, Randolph-Henry hosted Amelia County High School and Goochland High School at Briery Country Club. The Statesmen recorded a 153 team score, the Raiders came in second with a 194 and the Bulldogs shot a 203.
Lacks was the lowest individual scorer for R-H, shooting a two-under-par 34. Dunn shot a 38, followed by Nathan Towery, who had a 40, and George Sandridge and Larkin Jackson, who each shot rounds of 41.
“There is very little difference in our top 10 players, due to the golf talent these men have,” Powell said. “We are very fortunate to have so many great young men on our team. Hopefully we will continue to work hard and always be team players.
The Statesmen returned to action on Tuesday against Buckingham County High School and Bluestone High School at Kinderton Country Club, and they will play again on Thursday, when they host Goochland and Nottoway High School at Briery Country Club at 3:30 p.m.
