A 25-year-old Red Oak woman died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Route 632, less than a mile north of Route 608, on Tuesday morning.

According to a Virginia State Police press release, Kristen L. Weaver was identified as the deceased and said she was not wearing a seatbelt.

State police said Weaver’s 1999 Toyota Rav4 was traveling north on Route 632 when it ran off the right side of the road. Weaver then overcorrected, causing the SUV to come back onto the road, cross the centerline and hit a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado head on. The impact of the crash caused the Rav4 to spin around in the roadway and the Silverado to run off the right side of the southbound road into a ditch.

State police identified the driver of the Chevrolet as Roger L. Tharpe, 68, of Saxe, and said he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. State police said Tharpe was also not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
