SCVGS to present DNA program

On Saturday, at 1:30 p.m., the South Central Virginia Genealogical Society will welcome the Rev. Curtis E. Wheeler as a guest speaker at a meeting to be held in the Family History and Research room of the Charlotte County Public Library, located at 112 LeGrande Ave.

The topic of this month’s program will be “Applying DNA to Your Genealogical Research.”

The Rev. Wheeler began his genealogical journey almost 30 years ago when the mini-series “Roots” inspired him to begin his family search. He and his wife are both avid genealogists who spend many vacations and outings with a focus on family research. Like many people today, he has turned to using DNA results to fill in gaps or as a lead to a direction as yet unsearched.  This new avenue of research has given him new insight into his genealogical research.

All SCVGS meetings are free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.scvgs.com.
