Beginning Wednesday, June 15, and continuing through Aug. 1, the Charlotte County Farm Service Agency (FSA) office will be accepting nominations for candidates to be placed on the election ballot to represent Local Administrative Area (LAA) 1 and 2.

Theses LAAs include all of Charlotte County; LAA 1 being the northern half of the county and LAA 2 being the southern half of the county.

Eligible nominees must participate or cooperate in FSA program(s), be of legal voting age and reside in the LAA in which the person is a candidate.

Individuals may nominate themselves or others to serve on the county committee.

Organizations representing socially disadvantaged minorities and women farmers may also nominate candidates.

Nomination forms (FSA-669A) can be obtained at the Charlotte/Lunenburg County FSA office or online at www.fsa.usda.gov/elections

To be valid, the nomination form must be signed by the person being nominated, indicating agreement to serve if elected.

The completed nomination form must be returned to the Charlotte/Lunenburg County FSA office by the close of business on Aug. 1, or postmarked by midnight Aug. 1.

The FSA office will hold a workshop on Tuesday to inform the local agricultural community about the county committee election process. The workshop will be held in the FSA office and will begin at 9 a.m.

The workshop will explain the ballot process, voter eligibility, the election process and how votes are tabulated.

Special accommodations will be made upon request for individuals with disabilities, vision impairment or hearing impairment.

Any individual needing special accommodations to attend the workshop should contact the Charlotte/Lunenburg office at (434) 542-5121, ext. 2, by Friday.
