James Henry Elam Sr. passed away on February 4, 2016 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of the late Mr. William Henry Elam and Mrs. Mary Jane Price Elam. He was married to the late Mrs. Cynthia Randolph Elam.

He is survived by two daughters, Jacquelyn Smith (Joseph) and Lynnareal Elam of Maryland; one son, James Jr.; seven grandchildren, James III (Jay), Keisha, Aleshia, Joseph Jr., Amanda, Janae and Michael; eight great-grandchildren, Jailyn, James IV, Jonathan, Jaylyn, Emoni, William III, Kadence and Jaya; four sisters, Jennie Faulkner (Calvin) of South Boston, VA; Rosa Evans of Townsville, NC; Ruth Brogdon of Saxe, VA; Mildred Bailey (Joseph) of Halifax, VA; one brother, Otis (Shirley) of Fairfax Station, VA; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Agnes Randolph and Mrs. Stella Randolph of Phenix, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the White Oak Grove Baptist Church in Phenix with interment in the church cemetery.  Condolences may be expressed at www.JeffressFuneralHome.com. Arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Brookneal.
