Fuqua School’s fourth- and fifth-grade classes recently hosted Dr. Barbie Buckner, a NASA STEM educator. Buckner shared information about the “STEM on Station” program. Students learned about the ratios of earth to the moon and neighboring planets, the one-year mission on the International Space Station, and what life is like as an astronaut in space. Pictured is Dalton Tucker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Zach Tucker, of Keysville, and Buckner. Tucker is wearing an astronaut’s sleeping sack which when used on the space station is anchored to a wall so that it doesn’t float away while the astronaut sleeps.
