Anna Conner Lacks

Mrs. Anna Conner Lacks of Red Oak, VA died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the age of 88. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on May 23, 1927 to the late Granville Conner and the late Lelia Martin Conner. Anna was married to the late Grover Pleasant Lacks. Mrs. Lacks worked at Burlington Industries and ran Lacks Grocery. She was a lifetime member of Public Fork Christian Church. Anna loved shopping and cooking.

Mrs. Lacks is survived by two daughters, Brenda Toombs of Red Oak, VA and Ivy Newcomb and husband, Alvin of Saxe, VA; four grandchildren, Kenneth Toombs and wife, Christy, Brian Toombs and wife, Betty Jo, Anthony Newcomb and wife, Joni, and Kevin Newcomb and wife, Amy; five great grandchildren, Cody Toombs and fiancée, Tiffany, Austin Toombs, Noah Toombs, Kendall Newcomb, and Wyatt Newcomb; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ortie Lacks.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Brooks Lyon Funeral Chapel with Denis Fritz officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family received friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 26 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM.
