On Tuesday, S Beauty Salon, formerly located at 4861 Drakes Main St., opened a brand new urban-themed location in the heart of Drakes Branch. “I just feel blessed now being here at this new location,” said salon owner Sharon Stovall.

Currently located at 4794 Drakes Main St., Stovall said the new location boasts more room than the former. “I moved because I wanted more space and I just wanted a different environment,” said Stovall.

Stovall said she was at her previous salon location in Drakes Branch for the past 12 years and has been doing hair for the last 20 years. 

According to Stovall, she acquired the former location in Drakes Branch when her first hair salon burned down in 2003.

Although Stovall has a new location for the salon, Drakes Branch is still home to her business. “I remember when I used to ride the [school] bus and Drakes Branch was booming,” Stovall said.

She said she wanted to be a part of that, which is why she chose to keep her business based in the town. “I like the small rural area and I like the people.”

Upon entering the salon, an urban theme surrounded by bright hues of purple and a brick background seem to jump out at the customer.

Stovall said she was inspired while browsing on the internet to find a unique theme that complemented the layout of the building.

She said she was searching through the different color schemes and wanted to find a color that would go well with gray.

Finally, Stovall said she decided on purple and her young niece even helped my freehanding designs for the salon.

Currently, S Beauty Salon offers a variety of services. Services include braids, weaves, sew-ins, press and curl and more.

“I’d like to really thank all my family for helping me out with the new building,” Stovall said.

The new and improved salon will be open from Wednesday through Saturday during 10 a.m . to 5 p.m. and walk-ins are welcome.
