Recently, 1,500 student musicians from 15 counties competitively auditioned for the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association District III Bands. At the end of the day, seven Fuqua School students were among those selected for this prestigious honor. Seniors Stone Tucker (trombone) and Thomas Watson (trumpet) and freshman Ireland Seagle (clarinet) were selected for the Symphonic Band. Freshman Elizabeth Hice (flute) was selected for the Concert Band. Eighth-grade students Emily Erickson (flute/piccolo) and Ashley Handy (clarinet) and seventh-grade student Sarah Storm (trombone) were selected for the Junior Band. The District Band Concert will be held Saturday, Feb. 6.
