Dear Editor,

In 1989 the middle adult class of the Keysville United Methodist Church started a project that they thought would serve a need in Charlotte County. We decided to give the children attending Eureka Elementary School a coat if they did not have one and the family could not afford one. That was a great idea and it was appreciated by the teachers, also.

A few years after beginning this project, we decided to buy a coat for all elementary school children in the county who could use a coat. Today, we provide coats for all school age children in the county, pre-k through high school. Due to the increase in costs for this project, we are calling on other churches, civic organizations and individuals to help fund it. The Charlotte Lions Club, Keysville Ruritan Club and many churches in Charlotte County, along with other businesses, have been great supporters of this fine project.

Last year we purchased over 200 coats for these boys and girls. If you belong to an organization or church that would like to help fund a worthwhile project now is the time to do so, of if you are an individual that would like to help, now is the time.

This is one of the most worthwhile projects that I have ever seen done on a local level. The coats cost us an average of about $25. Remember when you give money for this project you are helping a boy or girl right here, in Charlotte County, who needs your help. One hundred percent of all donations are used for this purchase of coats.

The many individuals that have funded this project plus the banks and other businesses, industrial firms, and churches and civic organizations are to be commended for their support.
