Mr. Elmo Dews, 84, of Lynchburg passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Gertrude Mae Berkley. Born September 7, 1931, he was the son of the late Mr. Walter and Mrs. Sallie Dews. In addition to his wife and parents, Elmo was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Dews; one brother, Walter S. Dews; three sisters, Roxie Malone, Lena Haskins, and Edna King.

He is survived by his children, Al (Edna) Dews of Appomattox, Va., David (Veronica) Dews of Phenix, Va., Ricky (Vernelle) Dews of Charlotte Court House, Va., Rodney, Tammy and Pamela Dews of Appomattox, Va., Elmo S. Dews of Houston, Texas, and William G. Dews of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Beatrice and Bernice Dews of Appomattox, Va.; nine grandchildren, Monica Turner of Ft. Washington, Md., Felicia Dews of Upper Marlboro, Md., LaKeshia, Simone, Kaneesha and Chelsea Dews of Appomattox, Va.; David Dews, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., Dominique Dews of Phenix, Va., and Steven Dews of Brookneal, Va.; five great grandchildren, Devon Greene, Mia, Paige and David Turner, Jr. all of Ft. Washington, Md., and Simaya Dews of Appomattox, Va.; one aunt, Nannie Dews of Pamplin, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Ryland Davis of Appomattox, Va., and Jerry Davis of Newport News, Va.; two sisters-in law, Ruth Haskins of Hampton, Va., and Ella Megginson of Appomattox, Va., and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
