Carrie Toombs Edwards entered eternal rest on January 14, 2015 at Southside Community Hospital. She was born in Saxe, Virginia, on January 12, 1931, to the late Howard and Mattie Lipscomb Toombs. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie J. Edwards; her sisters Inez Dunn, Trudy Herzig and Millie Seo; and her brothers Manuel and Lowell Toombs. She is survived by her children Vicki Clark (R.B.), Earlene Rodriqueze, George Earl Arrington Jr., Sonja Wilmouth (Calvin); her children’s father George Earl Arrington Sr.; her brother Earl Toombs and sisters Margaret Filer, Ludy Collie and Bonnie Allen; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and other beloved family members.

Carrie loved spending time with and cooking for her children and other family. She enjoyed working in the vegetable and flower gardens and living in her family home in Saxe, Virginia. Many of her last years were spent there with her beloved miniature collie, “Miss Priss.” Her memorials were private and her final resting place is at the Hermon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in Randolph, Virginia, with many other Toombs family members.
